We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Merchants who accept Visa/Mastercard credit cards are assigned a merchant code, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa/Mastercard procedures based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. If a customer wants to buy a gift card for someone else, then they need to forward the gift card email to the recipient.Important Information about your Rewards Categories If the balance available on the gift card is less than the order total, then the customer is prompted to choose a second payment method for the balance before placing the order.

If the balance available on the gift card is greater than or equal to the order total, then the customer can click Complete order. When a customer redeems a gift card, the checkout displays one of the following options: You can view and manage the status of each gift card in your Shopify admin. Gift card balances are applied to the total value of an order, which can include taxes and shipping. The balance on a gift card can be spent on more than one order. When making a purchase in your store, a customer can redeem the value of a gift card by entering its unique code in the appropriate field at checkout. The option to add a gift card for payment appears on checkout only when there are active gift cards in your Shopify store.
